Shalati Glacier Nkhwashu is an award-winning journalist and political speaker. Between 2008 and 2016 she worked for some of South Africa’s leading publications before joining the political party Congress of the People (COPE) as their media officer and the righthand woman of Hon. Mosiuoa “Terror” Lekota, member of Parliament.
In 2012 Glacier won the Daily Sun Jounalism Award for the Story of the Year and in 2013 the Media24 Deon Du Plessis Legends Award and the Standard Bank Sikuvile Journalism Awards for Journalist of the Year. In 2019 she went back to reporting, as a freelancer and as the COVID reporter for The South African during lockdown.
Glacier is a founding member of the Forum for Journalism Transformation (FJT) and the Independent National Gospel Music Awards (INGOMA) and a member of the Nkuna Traditional Healers Association. Always a humanitarian and activist at heart, she joined the board of directors of PLeace Awaken in June of 2021
