Barry Cohen is a well-known figure within sporting circles especially golf. Since his return to Cape Town in the mid-1990s, Cohen has done much to contribute to this sport, including the launch of the SA Golf Hall of Fame and Museum for which he received the 2013 'Contribution to SA Golf' award.
A recipient of several awards, Barry wrote Blazing the Trail, the untold story of how black golfers helped bring down apartheid and beat both Gary Player and Tiger Woods. Blazing the Trail was followed by Cohen's historical African adventure novel "Let the Storm Burst", receiving excellent reviews. His latest book, Let Me Play: The Sewshanker ‘Papwa’ Sewgolum story about Papwa Sewgolum who rose from humble beginnings to challenge the might of the golfing titans on an equal footing. This book is in negotiations to becoming a major motion picture.
