Bok van Blerk is a South African singer and actor who released his first album in 2005. Four albums and a whole series of awards later, Bok became one of the country's most recognizable voices and faces in the entertainment world. Bok's music speaks of a love for his country and his people with a sweet humor added here and there. "De La Rey," the first album, made people take note, and multi-platinum sales were achieved. In 2007 Bok won three Huisgenoot Tempo awards, as well as five Vonk Awards and the MK Music Video of the Year. In addition, he helped with the production of the rugby music album "Ons Vir Jou", which sold more than 90 000 copies as the World Cup choir dominated the country. The follow-up album, "Afrikanerhart", released in 2009 quickly recorded double platinum sales. In 2010, Bok won the SAMA for Best Selling Album for "Afrikanerhart" and was also named the top-selling South African artist of the year. After releasing his third album, "My Cry," just a year later, he received a gold honorary award at the 2011 Vonk Afrikaans Music Awards. It was also in 2011 that Bok appeared as the leading actor in the movie “Platteland” with Lianie May. The film became the biggest Afrikaans film of the year and the DVD sales reached double platinum status. The success was repeated in 2013 when Bok appeared in the film "As Jy Sing". Around the same time the DVD was released early in 2014, Bok appeared on the big screen in "Vrou soek boer."
